Developed by Vertigore Games, ‘Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner’ sees you fending off waves of Tie Fighters from the seat of Han Solo’s trusty Millennium Falcon – but with an augmented reality twist.
Instead of a backdrop to the battle consisting of nothing but stars, the game instead utilizes the rear-facing camera of the iPhone or iPod Touch and, combined with the gyroscope, allows you to play the game in the real world. The demo below shows the game running with New York city as the backdrop so now you can air your geeky dark side in public. According to Vertigore, the game will also feature other iconic action sequences from the Star Wars films, including the Battle for Hoth. Look for it to swoop onto the AppStore in the next few weeks.
