Apple held a media event today, to launch new iPod’s and iTunes 9, but there were also some nice gaming tidbits to share.
Well, Steve is back, looking healthy and live on stage. They have announced iPhone and iPod Touch OS3.1. This brings iTunes Genius tech to the AppStore so you can get recommendations for your apps and games. Could be useful! 3.1 is free to owners of 3.0.
Finally, they are bringing App management to iTunes, allowing you to sort your home-screen direct in iTunes itself. No more scrolling through that text only check box list!
Phil Schiller’s hit the stage talking about iPod Touch, and how it stacks up against the PSP and DS. There are 607 games for PSP and 3,680 games for DS, compared to 21,178 games for iPhone [yeah but they'aint all good!]
Ubisoft made an appearance, to show off the sequel to Assassin’s Creed stating that “Apple has created a world class gaming experience on this platform”. The new game is a 3D side-scrolling platformer (2.5D?), a lot more Prince of Persia than before. The game looks to allow you to put your own photos of yourself and friends on wanted posters in the levels. Assassins Creed 2 for iPhone and iPod Touch hits the AppStore with the console versions.
Tapulous hit the stage with a new game called Riddim Ribbon that looks to blend Super-Monkey Ball with Guitar Hero, looks pretty trippy. The music in the game is affected by how well you play.
Gameloft show off a rather impressive demo of a new Halo like FPS called Nova… look out Eliminate/Kill Test!
EA finish off gaming proceedings with a demo of Madden 10, which will available to download today!
