Afterlife shows unreal promise

Trendy Entertainment release video of a tech-demo for a new 3rd person, co-op, survival horror game for the iPad 2 tentatively called Afterlife: Ground Zero…

According to Trendy, everything in this video is temporary, so we are not even sure if the final game will look like this at all, it does however show the potential for Gears of War-esque environments and detail. The UI was created in under an hour for the sole purpose of navigating the world and will not see final release. The game won’t just be action orientated and trendy aim to add different playable classes, tons of RPG elements, killer enemies, and a wealth of re-playability like Dungeon Defenders before it. The icing on the cake they say is co-op play.

What with Unity’s developments on the platform with Shadowgun, and now this, 2011 is looking like an exciting time for graphical rich experiences on the iPad 2.

Here is the video in all it’s HD glory:

    I look forward to hooking the iPad2 up to the TV for this one

  • Tony

    I just read on another site that Afterlife will be out on the app store in December of this year. It’s supposedly only going to be available for the iPad 2, and the upcoming iPhone 5(4S).

  • Tex

    @Tony
    Damm , if that’s true then I’m gonna need more money to buy the next generation of iphone

  • Jeff

    Tony’s right, Afterlife will not run on the iPhone 4, or the iPad 1, it’s only going to be able to run on the iPad 2, and the next iPhone.

  • Umair

    you all r lier’s it will work like a cream on iphone4/ipod ;)

  • Umair

    *ipod 4th gen

  • Jeff

    @Umair

    I wish you were right, but unfortunately, it won’t run on iPhone 4. My brother-in-law works for Trendy Entertainment, and he told me himself that it will only run on iPad 2 and iPhone 5.

  • BigBoy

    I think Jeff is righ. Tegra 3\Apple A5 processors will most likelly be minimum requirements to run this game properly.

  • Umair

    @jeff , so Trendy Entertainment already knows which GPU willbe inside in the Heart of iphone 5 ? hope that’s not true ;(

  • BigBoy

    @Umair
    Here is a footage of March of Heroes , the first Gameloft Unreal Engine game running on Iphone 4. Just look how lagy this thing is. Now, are you really expecting that kind of graphics on a relatively weak device? The geometry alone already surpasses what iphone 4 gpu (PowerVR SGX 535)can do.

  • Umair

    @BigBoy , obviously it wasn’t the final product(march of heroes) thanks for the info thought ;) still hoping it wont be true or better they make an optimized version of AfterLife for iphone4/ipod 4

    GoodNight :)

  • Nigel Wood

    Thanks BigBoy but we already got video of March of Heroes at E3: http://www.touchgen.com/e3-march-of-heroes-video

  • BigBoy

    Yes, i know about your video showing March of Heroes on ipad 2, thanks. But i think you missed the point here. My intention was not to promote that video. I was simply using it to prove my point that the current generation of idevices cant handle Unreal Engine properly.

  • Umair

    @BigBoy ,mate, i think you’r right about unrealengine on current hardware.
    infinity blade constantly crashes in my ipod 4th gen

  • Tex

    @Nigel Wood
    I know it but the video that BigBoy gives us is a footage gameplay of a ”iphone” version , not ipad

  • Umair

    Nigel is in hurry these days, don’t know why

  • Nigel Wood, UK

    @Umair ?????

  • Jeff

    @Umair

    They (Trendy) have no idea what’s going to be inside the iPhone 5 specs-wise, however they’re taking a large gamble in assuming that the iPhone 5 will have the same exact guts/specs as the iPad2.

  • Umair
  • Jeff

    Afterlife is coming out in December, so as long as the iPhone 5 is out before December, then everything will be fine. I don’t think Trendy has anything to worry about right now.

  • Umair

    Rumor’s r came up today that apple iphone 5 will-be powered by A6 chip which is in testing process, More power to u Trendy :p

  • Justin

    If the iPhone 5 is powered by the A6, then it will be more powerful than the Sony Vita. I really hope the A6 rumor is true, if so, then we’ll be able to play X-Box 360 caliber games on our phones!

  • Umair

    @justin , hehe lol sorry

    “Apple’s A6 processor will likely debut in 2012 alongside a 3rd generation iPad.”

    maybe iphone 5 will arrive in 2012 with A6 chip?

  • JoshuaX

    @Umair and Justin

    The iPhone 5 will come out this year, and it will most likely be powered by the A5 chip. The iPhone 6 (and the iPad 3) will have the A6 processor, and they won’t be release until 2012.

  • Jeff

    I agree with Josh, there’s a 99% chance that the iPhone 5 comes out this year, and is powered by the A5 chip.

  • Umair

    O.k let’s wait & see
